Wartime TV
assembled @ 9:17 p.m. on 2005-08-14

Hero is watching Windtalkers right now. A war movie. It's about Marines, so I think he may be required to watch it by some USMC code. Anyway, it's a war movie. The last few days, the subject of war has been on my mind a lot. I saw a documentary about Hiroshima, and I can't understand why we did it. I mean, I understand, intellectually. Ending the war quickly, blah, blah, blah. But in my soul, I can't understand it. I can't understand war at all. We're all family, all related. What does a Japanese mother want? What does an Iraqi mother want? I seriously doubt it's any different from what an American mother wants. Peace for her children.
