Thank you, Jen, for saying very well what I was too angry to think about coherently.

Now, on to happier things.
We've been talking to Pearl about God lately. She's at the age where she's starting to ask questions, and it's more than a little fun to answer them. We told her that God is everywhere, all the time, in everything. She recites this and practices it. "God is in... the sun?" Yes, love. "He's in your spinning!" Oh, of course!
Her bedtime routine has changed a bit, reflecting all these new thoughts she's been having. Rather than the list of memorized names, "God bless Mommy and Daddy and ....", she now has little conversations with God. Last night, I asked her, "What do you want to say to God tonight?"
"God is in my heart. Love is in my heart. I love you, Mommy." Followed up with a big hug for me.
Yeah, I think she's got it.
